As many of the posts I'm going do here are related to my work at the "Universidade das Crianças", I decided to talk a little bit about what this project is and how it works.
The Universidade das Crianças is a extension project from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) coordinated by Professor Débora d'Ávila (Institute of Biological Science) and Professor Maurício Gino (School of Fine Arts), which aims to disseminate scientific knowledge about the human body and environment for children of Belo Horizonte and other neighboring cities.
For that workshops are done in schools where children do questions about human body and environment. These questions are then answered by researchers and grad students of the project and are turned into radio shows, illustrated texts and animation cartoons. And that is the part that I am responsible as a member of the animation team.
Our role is to adapt the answers to the audio visual language to convey knowledge to children in a playful manner, but without losing the scientific "truth".
